Actually, using a wired connection is not a guaranteed improvement over wi-fi... I've had some pretty nasty reactions to a purely-wired internet connection, and some cases that has been worse than my reaction to wi-fi.  But that was with DSL, and at higher speeds.  

I've also noticed problems with cable internet when there was a grounding difference between my electrical outlets and the incoming cable.  I put a cable ground isolator on the incoming cable connection and that fixed that.
