these brands mentioned by marc, i have used and trust...
i used to use two verilux floor lamps - one on either side
of my desk.  the bulbs were small fluorescents but they
were far enough away and the light was not flickery...
the light box i had ("happy lite", i think it was called),
was also verilux, but it was way 'overkill' and i
used it RARELY and didn't like the intensity of it, ever.  
perhaps you need to have a very large room.  ???  
but those two brands are excellent and can be found at
most hardware stores.  their value far exceeds the cost.
