So is this something like a credit card?  I assume it must have something
in it more than just plastic to be causing a reaction.

I know that I've had problems in the past with my employer's work ID card.
In the old days this just used to be a piece of plastic, but these days it
has some sort of computer chip (so you can use it to log into your computer),
plus an antenna (so you can get entry into the building).  Since this also
doubles as an ID badge, I was limited in what I could for it shielding wise,
nor could I keep it away from me.  In the end, I put it in a plastic badge
holder and put some transparent shielding materials on the front, and
some reflective shielding materials on the back.  Plus I have it at belt
level instead of against my chest/abdomen.

I would have never expected to have a bad reaction to a piece of ID...
but of course I never would have expected to have a bad reaction to
everything else, either...
