I was pretty bad off at the time of my removals. I had been worse in the months prior, but my naturopath thought that I needed improved liver function before getting my amalgams removed (although in retrospect, I think I would have been better off getting them out sooner rather than later).
But yes, you may indeed feel worse afterwards if you are not doing anything to support the removal of mercury from your body. I know that I felt awful for a couple weeks after the removal, and that my body was obviously "dumping" toxins, but I think my case is a bit atypical.
Dr. Mitch Marder in Seattle is actually the dentist that I've been going to for the past couple years. However, the person who did my amalgam removals 12 years ago was Dr Paul Rubin, who works in the same office. There are several holistic dentists in the Seattle area, and these two are probably amongst the best.
Also, Seattle has plenty of practitioners to help out with nutrition and mercury detox. I know that people travel from all around the country to see Julie Anderson (Nurse Practitioner), because she is familiar with Andy Cutler's protocols. And also Dr. Klinghardt practices here, who is also famous worldwide (but philosophically at the other end of the spectrum compared to Cutler). I go to neither of these, but have been seeing a clinical nutritionist on the eastside for the past several years.

One biological dentist now discourages sick patients (CFS, MCS, etc.) from doing removals because even with suction devices, etc., disturbing the fillings at all seems to make patients who are already ill much worse. Makes me kind of hesitant although I've also seen plenty of positive stories like the ones you two shared. How "sick" would you two say you were at the time you did the removal?
