Aimee,  Believe me, I know how frustrating it can be, to try to explain "this" stuff to people, who don't understand. Anymore,  I just state my piece calmly, and go on.  Both my daughter and I found it amazing, when we started sleeping on beds with no metal. Truth be told?I think its one of those things, that until you try it, you just don't know how much of a difference it can make.  What I did was go to a used furniture place and bought a wooden bed frame. Then I took three cushionsoff my old couch, and made myself a bed with no metal.  Then I literally made my own pillow top out of quilts. Its not perfect, but it works for me. Some use an air mattress. It just depends on what people find comfortable, and what theycan handle, as far as the materials something is made of.  Some people use a futon with a wooden frame. I know some who used foam rubber as extra support, and covered the foam with the hypo allergetic mattress covers.  At this point, try not to worry about whether someone doesn't like your choices. Sometimes the "peanut" allergyexample seems to work for this stuff. If you tell them you're allergic to whatever it is, just like some peopleare allergic to peanuts. Most people understand the peanut allergy can be fatal. While they may not understandthe particulars of MCS, or ES, or whatever, I have found that when I explain it this way, it seems to work better.       Thank you for your reply.  I think that I must be pretty darn sensitive.  They are willing to take it back but then what do i sleep in ?  Plus they will hate me.  They don't understand.  I dont know that the metal is an issue with me.  I'm on the verge of a breakdown..... trying to help myself live a somewhat normal life and yet not step on toes in the process.

Thank god for this group is all I can say right now.  I know we all have to find our own answers but its good to vent and get some understanding anyway.

thanks Marc

Aimee

I suppose it depends on how sensitive you are.  Seems like with

an adjustable bed, your bedframe is going to have lots of

metal in it, plus it will have electrical components and plugged

into the wall.  All of these are bad from an ES standpoint.

But depending on how bad off you are, your reaction to

this will range from nothing at all to intolerable.

And I guess you could always just unplug it when it's adjusted,

then it's only the metal you'd have to worry about.

I think that for me, it's the metal bed springs in the mattress

that caused the most problems.
