I've got an LG100C from TracFone.  Like this one:

TracFone has the best rates for "people who never use their
cellphones".  They've got a "refill card" that lasts for 365
days, and it has far more minutes than I will ever use in
a year (800 minutes, I think).

These phones typically cost $10 for phone, then the rest
of the cost is the minutes.

This particular model is 2G, and has a speakerphone.  Coverage
is via the Verizon network, which I find tends to work better
"in the middle of nowhere" than AT&T.  Although that
probably depends on where you live.
