Joyce,
The CPUC just ruled that PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric - northern CA)
must allow customers to opt out from smart meters and/or must restore
analog meters to those who already have smart meters and don't want
them. The charge is $75 up front, and $10/mo. For those on their low
income program, it's $10 up front and $5/mo. It's extortion, of
course, and infuriates me no end. I hate being a participant in this
criminal activity, but must put my health first so I've already called
to opt out. It will help some not to have one on my bedroom wall, on
this two wire house, but I also know having the rest of neighborhood
smart-metered will be a disaster for me. However, at least some
progress has been made, and the healthy activists are still keeping
the protests going strong.
I hope you get some relief with SCE.
