Hi Eli,
I can be around old fridges quite happily. It is not the motor which bothers me. It is likely the Energy Star pulsed electricity or non-mechanical settings which they now put on all the fridges which wigs me out. I own an old car. It runs by motor. It doesn't bother me, but the new cars do.
