So what does moving the fridge from the wall 6 inches do to reduce emf's.

It is likely the field being measured is not from the gasoline solid
block of iron motor, but the wiring in the car, the amperage between the
generator and the battery, and if it is a new hybrid car, then the
high-high voltage between the batteries and the 4 electrical motors on
each wheel.
Not to mention the coils in the heated seat, electrical loops and paths
through the frame, and whatever other accessory that is on.

The electrical winding in motors do create a magnetic field, that at
least for me is a definite avoid.

Just moving the fridge 6 inches from the bedroom wall may indeed make a
significant difference, but it would be better to have the bed on the
opposite wall anyway.
