Just a thought here. Low cortisol levels are probably the most common reason for the body's inability to take up or absorb thryoid hormones.
Without enough cortisol, the body is unable to metabolize or use thryoid hormones, be they natural or synthetic. Although natural is always the better way to go.
Might try boosting the body's cortisol levels .....although I am hesitant to suggest the often recommended natural therapy of using the herb: licorice, as it can over stimulate the adrenals and cause more stress on an already stressed out gland, once again, and in the face of those who have made their view points known on whqt they believe, are the "un- benefits" of the herb known as Tulsi, or Holy Basil, which is said to help "normalize" cortisol levels...With all due respect to these parties who don't believe in the "normalizing" qualities of Holy Basil: all I can say is this: It is of the utmost importance to verify where herbs are coming from and how they are harvested. Just like with water, water is not all the same. Where the water comes from; Ie: is it tap water, well water, ect. Tap water needs to be filtered. How often either the homeowner or company changes their filters, what kind of filtering system is being used, are all important factors. Many people think because they have well water, that their water is clean. Not so. Thousands, if not millions of wells have been contaminated by the process known as "hydro fracking". At this point, do your own research.
There's only one company who sells Tulsi, Holy Basil that I have found above the grade. This is not to say it is the only one. Google Mercola, Holy Basil and read the info. There are two things I don't skimp on. They are: supplements and water. The instructions for my Reverse Osmosis states to change the filters every 6 to 9 months. I change my filters every 10 weeks, on average. I also change my Britta Filters every 3 weeks. And if I have to spend more money on higher quality supplements, then so be it. For those who may not realize it, the Reverse Osmosis and yes, there are different models, do remove Fluoride from the water, and Fluoride is toxic to the thryoid, thus my extended conversation on the subject of water.
Here is a helpful link to testing your thyroid and adrenals at home.
The following is useful information that helps you chart by taking your temperature several times a day, what your adrenal and thryoid status is.
What I found, using my own version of a more simplified graph, was this:
When I started supplementing, using both adrenal and thyroid supplements, my temperatures which were low, started to go up to the normal levels. I used both: the Holy Basil from Organic India, and I used: Thyroid Helper from www.wellresources.com and I used the Adrenal Cortex from www.nutri-meds.com I also used a good Vit B-Complex and Royal Jelly.
And yes, Vit D3 as well as Mercola's sun light. And avoiding, limiting my exposures to wifi, cell phones, etc, played a large role in this.
My two cents

The same is true for the harvesting and processing of herbs.
