Hi Steve

Hope the prep part went well - would you be able to post me a link perhaps to
the Huggins info on using a gold crown and how the immune system got back to
normal if you have one? I must check out the Bruxzir crown. I know the feeling
you have about repeated dental visits - normally I ongl go once every 6 months
for a check up and any treatment I normally need can be done on one visit - this
year alone I have had 4 visits - 3 for treatment and I am scheduled to go next
week for more - with everything I have going on at the moment my instincts are
telling me to hold off with this treatment for now. the teeth where I want the
amalgam removed from are sitting in front of what I think is a wisdom tooth
which, like an on off volcano, has recently been putting pain and pressure on
those teeth in front of it, and then subsided again. Right now I am in a
"dormant" phase - no pain and no pressure - but I don;t know whether in these
circumstances it is a good idea for the dentist to be trying to work on those 2
teeth right in front of it. I have googled impacted wisdom teeth and I don't
thinik it is impacted but I don't now what to do for the best. Meanwhile I also
need to have the 2 RC teeth looked at [they are very EMF sensitive] but I need
to see a different dentist for that [on mainland UK] and don't know how long it
is going to take to get a slot to see him. Good luck with the final crown work -
hope it goes well. Let me know what the new one feels like and how it is
responding.

BW

Steph

Hi Steph,
The tooth was prepped last wednesday and the permanent will be placed on Oct. 7.
I read up on the galvanism and I read about the dissimilar metals issue. I am
going to be getting my crowns replaced eventually with the same elite II crowns
(perhaps the bruxzir if I need a post). The biggest issue is mixing amalgam with
metals and I have none left-no more metal fillings.
This one tooth that's getting crowned wouldn't be a good candidate for the
bruxzir because there is so little tooth left. The almost pure gold was better
for this one. I also read about Huggins replacing nickel based crowns with gold
and how the immune system got back to normal after the gold was placed.
As for the es I will have to see what happens. It's not an all Gold Crown, its
porcelain fused to the gold so hopefully it won't be an issue. Fingers crossed.

Zirconium is a metal but zirconia is a ceramic from what I've been reading. The
Lava Crown is zirconia fused to porcelain. the Bruxzir is all zirconia so
stronger.
These are new on the market so who knows what we'll discover about them?
I know how you feel about not being able to get to the dentist. I am so tired
dealing with this one tooth I'm hoping to take a few months off before replacing
another one.
