I only tried Diatomaceous Earth once, and I did not like my reaction to it
at all, so I never tried it again.
I have tried a lot of other things... spent years taking NDF and Microhydrin
(and got better during those years), and am currently taking ALA using
frequent/low dosing.

Well, I've been trying to chelate for the past 10 years, so it could
be a long while... :-(

If things are going well, you should eventually be able to increase your
dosage and experience fewer side effects from those higher doses. Until
the end, when you should have no side effects from a very large dose.
If things are NOT going well, then you will get worse over time and you
will likely have to stop whatever you are doing.

Yes, those sounds like the symptoms of metals in your bloodstream. Hopefully
they are getting out of your body too!

The average person probably isn't so toxic, so it wouldn't take as long.
People with ES are probably very toxic, so it would take longer. If
you do everything correctly, you probably could see good progress over
the course of a couple years.
Of course, Charles might say that an ionic footbath will solve your
problems in a couple weeks, but trying to do things too fast can
potentially do more harm than good.
