Where do you find a "short" DVI or HDMI fiber optic cable?

Is there a such thing as a DVI or HDMI fiber optic cable that is of "normal" length? From what I've seen, these types of fiber optic cables seem to be manufactured with the assumption that you only need these fiber optic cables if there is an extreme (and I mean extreme)physical distance between the source of the video signal and the visual display unit. Retailers don't seem to sell any of these fiber-optic cables if they aren't less than 30 feet. (I did find a DVI fiber optic cable that was somewhere around 10 feet, IIRC - but this was the exception, and even 10 feet is too much cable). Many only sell them as "extender" cables.
Needless to say, using a 40-foot fiber optic cable to connect a computer and monitor that will be inches away from each other is impractical - probably prohibitably so. That's not to mention the needless expense of purchasing such an excessive length.
Those of you who use fiber-optic cables - what are the lengths of the cables you're using? Do you know of a place where a DVI or HDMI fiber-optic cable that is of average length could be purchased? I don't need any more than 2 or 3 feet.
