Sounds like ground current also known as stray voltage.

Take about 10 metal tent spikes and make a circle around the tent. Attach alarge copper wire 30 gauge is good - or ground wire for houses - and attach it to the tent spikes so that it forms a closed circle. Then when the electricity flows through the ground it will circle around you taking the path of least resistance. You might want to dig a small trench to hide the wire so you will not trip over it.

Cows can feel ground current too..
