I think the Panasonic 2.4 ghz I used--which you said was the same model youused--said it WAS digital on it.  I usually do not do well with digital anything but I did okay with that phone on speakerphone function.  (I did have it set to the analog setting tho--is this what you mean, no more analog setting/only digital?)  I have wondered whether the refurbished phone may have been changed, but there is unfortunately no way to know without trying it.  I checked, tho, that phone sells for only $30, so it isn't like I would lose a fortune if it didn't work.  I just never got to call back on it.  I think it was $30 with shipping.

Thank you for responding. At least I know I am not alone with these
horrible symptoms.
A member on this site found a phone that I may have used long ago that was
good for me.
I have to find out if it's digital before I buy it.

When I go away to visit a friend and am not on the phone at all I am so
much better. Now I know why.

I think I am not compatible with the 21st Century. I have a friend who
lives in Qaxaca, Mexico and it would be great if I could go and visit but my
job keeps me here. Part of my job is on the phone and that's not good so I'm
still searching.
