Hi, R,
I never took the "Seacure" you mention, but I also overcame most of my foodintolerances (except glutens and sugars). At one time, I could eat only 5 foods without major gastric/other problems. I used (large doses of) quercitin also to achieve this. I was also on Omega 3-6-9 and other supplements at the time. (Fish oils and fatty acids, but not anything specifically for amino acids.)
Diane er....GHC ;)

Did you ever try a product called Seacure for your leaky gut? Along with other things like quercetin, my reactions to food (which were horrible, like bad all-over rashes, a month or more ago) have diminished a lot.
Seacure is hydrolyzed (fermented, or predigested) white fish; super absorbed by the body, and contains amino acids that can help heal the gut lining. There are a lot of good reports on it. A few have mentioned odd reactions to it, but not most folks. Could be worth a go. Good luck!

Hi Ian,
Sue sounds a lot like my me. I also have the low glutithione & has something to do with genetics. I do injections every other day. What was the magesium sulphate for?
I also have severe leaky gut as well.
I'm taking Milk Thystle for the liver.

Hi Loni,
We didn't find supplements etc were enough to deal with Sue's problems. We
had tests which showed her sulphate and glutathione were very low (a later
genetic test showed the gene for the latter was missing). So intravenous
infusions of glutathione and magnesium sulphate, plus injections and baths
of the latter to top up, were needed, as she had leaky gut too - big vicious
circle. It took a couple of years of gradual treatment (expensive) and she
is now a lot better, but has plateau'd.
On grapefruit - it may or may not be a problem for you, but worth trying out
avoiding it to see if it makes a difference. Twice a week doesn't sound so
bad, I thought it sounded as if you had it virtually daily. (Ironically, I
do, but I'm fortunate enough to be in good health).

Hi Ian,
I agree with you on the liver pathways being the big picture in not dealing
with pollution. A liver test that measures enzymes & a protein is not an
effective test for liver function.
What did Sue take for improving Phase II?
I don't really eat grapefruit all the time. Twice a week I guess. Don't
think I'll be doing that much anymore.

Hi Loni,
Liver metabolic pathways (detox) consist of Phase I and Phase II. Lots of
people with MCS and ES seem to have problems with one or more of the Phase
II pathways being missing or broken. But problems with Phase I could give
similar symptoms.
It might be worth trying giving up grapefruit for a period and see what
effect it has. Of course, you might feel worse for a time if the detox
which had previously been inhibited starts going. But if it then helps to
clear some accumulated grot out of your system it could be very useful!
Sue's MCS and ES have got a lot better by treating the Phase II pathways
(and gut disease), but in conjunction with this she avoids grapefruit
completely.
As Marc mentions, some drugs are detoxified by Phase I and have specific
warnings on the packet "do not take with grapefruit".

Hmmm, I love & eat grapefruit all the time. What do you mean it stops the
Phase I. For how long & how? Never heard that before. I have problems with
the liver. Loni

Grapefruit stops liver phase I activity, which has a nice side effect
of stopping detox and making you feel better. But of course, since
the goal is the *eventually* detox, you should not take it all the
time.
I think this also applies to Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE). At least,
a few drops of this can often make me feel better. But maybe that
is the anti-fungal/ bacterial/ virus properties (?)
