I just sat at a friend's desk for a while & was surprised at how quiet the cpu tower was & that it didn't seem to bother me. She said they have come a long way. I don't think I am as sensitive as I used to be but it depends...I can tell if the refrigerator is on when it's 60 feet away & an air purifier in my housemate's bedroom was very hard on me.

The point is I pay 3x the price for a laptop since I have been able to tolerate them better & am thinking next time I may try a desktop & just move the cpu further away...
