Hey again, Amy,

Sorry, I had not gotten far enough in my email reading to know what you were taking, and I think you changed your mind since you last wrote, as I thought you were taking another product (or I got you confused with another person possibly who was asking me about detoxing!)  Anyway, if you are on drops, take only 1 drop, like Marc said, and even possibly space it out, (taking it not necessarily everyday), until you get your lymphatic system less overwhelmed.  You will be able to tolerate more the longer you take it.  But anytime you take something detoxing, you should start small.

The shakes you mentioned previously can be adrenal symptoms.  You can try supplementing for this to see if it responds (the supplements I mention in this email below).  You might try epsom salts baths, too, as sometimesmagnesium imbalance can cause shakes/anxiety (or too much can do the same;if you have been doing Epsom salts bathing, then consider that you might be getting too much magnesium).  You need to balance magnesium, also, withcalcium and potassium, if this is the case.  Electrolytes as a whole areanother avenue to explore.  Try Gatorade unless you are sugarfree orcan't have it for another reason.  All 3 of these problems also cause anxiety.  Sounds like something is out of balance.  Alkalized water, might also make a difference with anxiety and shakes.  (Or anything which alkalizes the metabolism, rather than propetuating an acid state.)

Wishing you wellness,
Diane

Hi, Amy,
It is possible this is MORE than you really wanted to know, but.....  lol

I was concerned when you told me privately of your decision to detox thatyou would have this problem.  People with fm often have problems with detoxing.  First of all, pare down what you are taking to detox.  (You told me you were going to use a broad spectrum product that had alot of herbs, etc in it.  By paring down, I mean stop using this product and use a supplement with fewer herbs/supplements- -1 or 2 are sufficient to start; youcan then always add more.)  OR, alternately, you could go on the least amount of this current product possible.  (Get empty gel capsules and thenopen the capsules of the product you are using and divide the contentsinto 5 or more empty capsules.)  Then take only 1 of these in place ofyour old dose.  If the product you are using is a tablet, get a pill splitter and divide the pill into at least 4 (or more) portions.

Also, you need to make sure your lymphatic system can support the detox. One help is jumping on a mini tramp to help your lymph to move quicker. You don't have to jump long; even 2 minutes will help.  But go longer ifyou can.  If you don't have energy for much exercise, then lay down and prop your feet up on the back of a sofa or on a wall so that your lymphs can use gravity to drain quicker.

Epsom salts baths is another help--helps you detox faster thru your skin.  Make sure you are drinking enough quality water.  Alkaline water is most helpful.  This and nutrients to support your kidneys helps detoxing thru the kidneys.  Cranberry juice can help.  Work up a sweat with exercise and then take a shower; helps again to detox faster thru skin.  Taking supplements which support the liver detox pathways helps the liver detox, which is often the real reason for many bad reactions to detoxing.  (Headaches, inability to focus and concentrate or think clearly, feeling spacey, constipation, sometime eye problems --fuzzy or double vision, etc, and FIBRO PAIN....)  Coffee, for instance, is one substance which will make phase 1 detox faster.  But you do not want to aid phase 1 detox unless you can also quicken phase 2 detox to handle the spill over.  The symptoms you are having are likely caused because one or both of these pathways is not
working correctly.

Coffee is a double help as it also helps stimulate bile.  Anything which will make you eliminate (ie: thru bowels) faster will help.  Eating fats such as potato chips can aid detoxing thru bowels, oddly enough.  BUT the idea here is to eat just enough for toxins to attach to, but not enough for toxins to attach to and then add to your gerth.  ;)  For then you will be adding to toxic fat in your body.

I have a list of supplements for the liver detox pathways, but it is late and I have to look for it because everything is out of place here right now.  I will try to find and write again tomorrow.  Two liver supplements Iuse are molybdenum and B12.  But if you are already over taxed, they arelikely to cause even more detoxing, so do these other things I have mentioned first and try to get past the lymphatic congestion you now have. When it comes to the liver detox pathways actually, when you take a detox product, they act to stimulate these pathways already.  But if you have the correct nutrition for the liver (and have no other malfunctions of theliver) then you don't need to take detox products--your liver detoxes everything adequately on its own.  What causes build up of toxins in your body is when your liver (and kidneys, lungs, and skin) is malnourished and cannot adequately carry out the functions of detoxing.

Are your adrenals now affected?  (Are you having exhaustion, temperature swings, bp plummeting or rising, dizziness, difficulty breathing, heart racing or skipping beats....)  If you are having these, then it is crucial to take supplements to feed the adrenals and lymphs.  (These supplements would be CoQ10, calcium, and B5.)  The adrenals become affected when the lymphatic system is so overloaded that it robs the adrenals of nutrients in order to work harder.  Both the lymphatic system and adrenals use these same nutrients.  Specifically I use CoQ10--3X100 mg/day, preferably subligual, but a good quality gel cap is also good.  I use calcium AEP and pantethine (a particular type of  B5.)  I have mentioned the quantities of these many times here before.  If you need this info you can write.  Itis not important that you take what I take, but that you get the amount ofthese nutrients needed to help with the congestion you now have.  The upper
limits of these supplements is what you should take right now, since you are having detoxing stress.

You can find this info online or in any book on nutrition.  A great book to own for info like this is "Prescriptions for Nutritional Healing" by Phyllis and James Balch.  This book is usually carried by all the major booksellers, but make sure you get the most up to date edition, as they updateit every couple years.

When you detox, you will feel bad.  But the trick is to walk a fine line between functional and comfortable.  If you are totally comfortable, thenlikely you are not detoxing enough.  If you are not functional due to pain and symptoms, then you are overdoing the detox and your lymphatic systemis overwhelmed.

I have also read that it helps to do kidney and liver cleansing before doing a lymphatic detox.
Hope this helps,
Diane

I am doing a detox and feeling pretty bad. Can you tell me what kinds of symptoms you've had to deal with when the detox was very bad?
Thanks~
Amy
