Well, I think the #1 thing is to keep a distance
from the screen, so an HDTV being used as a computer
monitor is the first thing (e.g, 26" diagonal, but
low 768 x 1366 resolution so you can read it from
a distance).

Next would be LCD with the florescent backlight
replaced by LED (no inverter, lower voltages,
no mercury).

Next would be OLED (manufacturers keep claiming
that they are "coming soon", but it looks like
they are still a few years off). This should
be even lower voltage.

There is also SED, which may never get off the
ground.

And there are of course other ideas being
suggested that may appear in 5+ years.

I suspect that SOMETHING better will come
out in the next decade...
