First of all, the condition is known as "electrical sensitivity" (ES), or alternately
"electromagnetic hypersensitivity" (EHS). It is a condition where people have
immediate bad reactions to common sources of radiation -- like cellphone towers,
cellphones, computers, florescent lights, television sets, telephones, etc. In
the more severe cases people can't even stand the wiring inside their walls. For
the most part, people have to just avoid these things, although in some cases
people have found solutions which allow them to overcome this illness and go
back to a normal life.
ES seems to be related to chemical sensitivity in that people often get them
together, which would imply a common trigger -- like an immune system which
is struggling due to a variety of possible factors... accumulation of heavy
metals in the system (mercury, lead, aluminum), accumulation of toxins/poisons
in the body (pesticides, drugs, chemicals), or viruses, infection, etc.
It could also be related to MS, in that the myelin sheath surrounding the
nerves could be degraded, making one more sensitive to such fields.
I find the accumulation of heavy metals to be an interesting theory, as increased
metal in your body could make you an increased conductor of electricity, which
could indeed make you more sensitive to electricity than a normal person.
(I've even found that I will set off a metal detector with hardly any metal
on my person, while the next person who is obviously wearing more metal than
I won't set it off at all!)
