Yes, we get those here as well. However, I have this group set to
"moderate new members". So when someone makes their first post,
I can see if they are a spammer or not. If they are a spammer,
I just delete the message before it's sent out. If not, I change
their settings so that they are allowed to post freely. If
at some point later I find that someone has a tendency to post
irrelevant things on the list, I either warn them to stop doing
this, or put them in permanent moderation mode and delete anything
they try to post which is not relevant.

I run 3 discussion groups on Yahoo, and I run them all this way.
Seems to work well.
