couldn't even get within 7 feet of a turned-on laptop without
immediately getting a reaction."

Laptops have many devices that create RF requencies and EMF, the high
frequency signaling that goes on in the processor and memory are such,
but lots of EMF is generated purely by the hard drive (a moterised
componant) as well as fans.

Also - one of the big problems with fleuros (LCD Backlights) apart
from the frequency of the backlight usually being at 60hz at the 'just
perceptable flicker out of the corner of the eye range', is the huge
amount of blue spectrum in the light that is generated, it causes all
sorts of problems. maybe a celulose filter or sunglasses might help
there..?

Cheers
