Shivani replies,
Cancelling service does not keep the dish from picking up signals, it
just keeps your tv from being able to use them. The cable was bringing into
your home whatever the dish picked up, which could include local microwave
("cell phone") radiation. It's also possible that the pole and cable picked up
high-frequency ground currents, as your electric utility uses the ground to
return about 70% of its electricity to the substations.
It is interesting that a satellite dish can apparently be used to
protect a savvy ES person, too. I have heard of a man who uses several dishes
along one side of his property to collect and deflect radiation. - One of those
things about which we say "Nifty, but don't try this at home." Unless you
have a lot of technical knowledge or are extremely adventurous.
