It would be interesting to discover whether people who report symptoms
from 60 Hz have the metering equipment to determine whether in fact they were
being exposed to ONLY 60 Hz.

Many people have just a Gauss meter, and if they experience symptoms
where the meter reports a field they presume that 60 Hz is the culprit.
However, the Gauss meter is incapable of metering the high frequencies thatresearch
associates with ES symptoms.

Even researchers have made this error, using utility-provided
electricity for their research without ever checking to see what frequencies are
actually present, then making thoughtless conclusions about the effects of 6o Hz.

I called one such researcher and asked whether they had used
utility-provided electricity in their stsudy.  Yes, they had.   And, I asked, had they
checked with an oscilloscope to determine what frequencies were present?   A
moment of silence on the other end of the phone.   Um, no they hadn't thought of
it.

     Shivani

I think it is plausible that you are right, but it would
take a lot more research to convince me that
60Hz has no adverse effects. There are a lot of cell culture
experiments that have been repeated in different labs.
Obviously if someone repeated them with clean and
dirty power and saw no effects with clean power I'd be
swayed. (I think most of those effects were using 60Hz
electric fields).

Shivani replies:
Dave Stetzer et all did an interesting experiment. They incubated two
groups of chicken eggs, one in clean 60 Hz, the other using "dirty
electricity." Not only was the hatching rate much higher in the clean-electricity
group, but some of the the dirty-electricity chicks had malformations, while
none of the others did.
It would have been interesting to have added yet a third of eggs,
hatched by chickens away from manmade frequencies of any kind whatsoever. However,
the difference in effect of clean/dirty electricity was striking.

I just found such an experiment and there was a third 'control' group.
But the figures are in Russian. If you have a link to a report in English
perhaps you could send it.

I also just read a paper in
PNAS<http://www.pnas.org/cgi/content/full/104/24/10152>by a company
called NovaCure based in Israel.
They say that 200MHz fields of moderate strength disrupt cell division (e.g.
of tumors).
This suggests that field measurements should go at least that high in
frequency.

Do you have an opinion as to why childhood lukemia happens more near
transformers
and power lines? Let me say in advance it's clear that a lot of houses near
large power lines
have much stronger 60Hz fields than one will ever get from plugging in
Stetzer filters.
