Can anyone clue me up on whether 150khz-30mhz is classed as low frequency
what is the term for the range also do we have any cheapish meters outthere that will measure this range and give field strength etc with that are there any studies that show this range when coming as RF from a consumer device such as a Plasma TV into the house mains to be hazardous to health. Since my house is being irradiated daily by stray radiation coming from a Pioneer 42inch Plasma TV I need to start compiling meaningful data on the subject. Any pointers welcome Paul UK [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
Hello Paul,
the Aaronia Spectran NF 5030 can measure these frequencies. The only low cost unit that I know about is Trifield Extended Range
Broadband meter http://www.lessemf.com/combi.html#155 for $189.95 The Invisible Waves product will do a great job http://www.lessemf.com/rf.html#135 but the price is in the same range as the Spectran NF 5030 Best Regards, Emil DeToffol Less EMF Inc. tel: +1-518-432-1550 fax: +1-309-422-4355 www.lessemf.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Thursday, April 02, 2009 6:27 AM Subject: Re: [eSens] re khz-mhz query > Hello Paul, > > the Aaronia Spectran NF 5030 can measure these frequencies. > > Greetings, > Charles Claessens > member Verband Baubiologie > www.milieuziektes.nl > www.milieuziektes.be > www.hetbitje.nl > checked by Norton > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <[hidden email]> > To: <[hidden email]> > Sent: Thursday, April 02, 2009 10:57 AM > Subject: [eSens] re khz-mhz query > > >> Can anyone clue me up on whether 150khz-30mhz is classed as low >> frequency >> what is the term for the range also do we have any cheapish meters >> outthere >> that will measure this range and give field strength etc >> with that are there any studies that show this range when coming as RF >> from >> a consumer device such as a Plasma TV into the house mains to be >> hazardous to >> health. I don't really know but I imagine the tri-field might not be sensitive
enough unless you were right near the TV. The Spectran might show it but for any kind of accuracy you'd need one of their more expensive antennas to go with it I think. The easiest thing to try is the old AM radio. A large TV can make the radio buzz several feet away. You might be able to find the emission spectrum for the TV in the FCC database. Then you'd know what frequency to focus on. Possibly some ham radio equipment would be helpful. They use power meters to assess noise at different frequencies. If you suspect anything at 100MHz you could use an airband radio, and at that frequency a directional TV antenna can be useful.
