I just ordered and received this poewr sentry surge protector from quantum
health, as they advertised it helps block emf....but it doesn't say that on the box at all? does this work at all for that? confused... jill "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." Mahatma Ghandi [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
Hi Jill, Could you provide a link to the product you bought? The power strips sold at QuantumProducts.com are modified power strips manufactured by Power Sentry. They do help with EMF -- in fact, I use these around my computer almost all the time. They don't help 100%, but are part of an overall solution. Marc (in Hawaii) |
Marc, picking up on an old (December) exchange between you and Jill regarding the Quantum Power Strip. I received mine last week and like Jill was confused by the packaging, which does not mention any EMF protection effect. (I almost returned it thinking they had sent me the wrong item.) If you know, can you say more about the modification that has been done to these power strips? And, does Power Sentry do the modification, or is it done by Quantum Products to the standard power strip manufactured by Power Sentry? I am also curious, since I am now trying to reduce EMF at my own workplace rather than just in my husband's home environment -- in your experience, does the Quantum Power strip work even if the electrical outlet itself is not correctly grounded? My ability to ground outlets will be limited at work... I can just imagine what my boss would say if I started bringing in electricians and opening up the walls... Do you think the Quantum Power will help regardless? As far as I understand it (and I could be wrong), they take a standard Power Sentry power strip, and then they expose it to a strong magnetic field of some sort, which alters the materials in some way (I believe it aligns the particles in a way that's similar to what an MRI does to a person). Then, when you plug in the power strip, the power strip generates whatever electromagnetic field that it would already, but the field is altered because of the altered materials. The altered materials cause the field generated by the power strip to be "coherent", and when these coherent fields interact with other "incoherent" fields in the environment, those fields become more coherent as well. Supposedly the human body prefers coherent fields to incoherent ones, so the body reacts better to the environment. The stock power strip from Power Sentry also contains a EMI/RF filter, which I'm sure also has some beneficial effect. Note that I've found the same model of power strip in my local hardware store, and bought that and compared it to the Quantum version, and they do have a very different effect. In fact, I reacted negatively to the one from the hardware store (perhaps the EMI/RF filter is not so good after all?), but positively to the one from Quantum, even though on the surface they look like the same product. I don't know anything about the circuit needing to be properly grounded -- my feeling is that all you need is to have it turned on and have electricity for it to work. Mine has a "ground" light which I assume means that the ground is working properly. Note that the power strip doesn't even need to have something plugged into it to work. It works by proximity, and affects any EMF within about 7 feet from it. I don't have anything plugged into mine, and have it sitting next to my computer monitor, as the computer monitor is what causes me the most trouble. Marc |
