I expect you'll get good shielding with either one.
If there are windows, try to plan on putting a screen
on the outside overlapping the siding.
Steel could possibly help with power lines on that
side of the house, but don't expect anything very significant.
There could be an issue with the seams.
If you put a layer of foil-type vapor/radiant barrier, then
you would not worry about seams and could also go with vinyl siding
(I really don't know much about siding... here we use stucco).
