metal chelation questions

dpestun
If any of you have experience with DE or other metal chelators and can offer some advice please read and reply. Your knowledge is greatly appreciated so very much because my time doing research on the computer must be limited, as I'm sure many of yours is. Thank you in advance!~
I've been taking Perma-Guard Fossil Shell Flour(food grade diatomaceous earth) for just over a week now. I give it to my pets as a parasite cleanseand wanted to do the same for myself. It is also a metal chelator so I'm hoping it may help with my ES symptoms. I was just wondering how long to expect the side effects of chelation to last. Will I have to deal with the issues I'm having the entire time I'm taking it or will the negative effects go away as the metals are being flushed from my system?
I'm experiencing mostly that foods seem to taste metallic. So far, only proteins do not. I've had some sore spots and cuts in my mouth as well. Some headaches, but I live with headaches almost daily so I don't think I can really link them to the DE. The fatigue and muscle soreness aren't too bad because I've been eating a very vitamin/mineral rich diet. Also, my hands and feet seem to be more cold than usual and I constantly am thirsty. Are these all symptoms of chelation?
Does anyone know how long chelation takes in the average person? I have no amalgam fillings, but had one safely remopved years ago. I worked in a chemical soaked environment for about 6 months in my late teens. I do not now nor have I ever eaten seafood.
Thanks again!

I only tried Diatomaceous Earth once, and I did not like my reaction to it
at all, so I never tried it again.

I have tried a lot of other things... spent years taking NDF and Microhydrin
(and got better during those years), and am currently taking ALA using
frequent/low dosing.

Well, I've been trying to chelate for the past 10 years, so it could
be a long while... :-(

If things are going well, you should eventually be able to increase your
dosage and experience fewer side effects from those higher doses. Until
the end, when you should have no side effects from a very large dose.

If things are NOT going well, then you will get worse over time and you
will likely have to stop whatever you are doing.

Yes, those sounds like the symptoms of metals in your bloodstream. Hopefully
they are getting out of your body too!

The average person probably isn't so toxic, so it wouldn't take as long.
People with ES are probably very toxic, so it would take longer. If
you do everything correctly, you probably could see good progress over
the course of a couple years.

Of course, Charles might say that an ionic footbath will solve your
problems in a couple weeks, but trying to do things too fast can
potentially do more harm than good.

Re: metal chelation questions

Hi Marc

Can I ask a chelation related question at this point? I am in the process of
getting my amalgam fillings removed but haven't started to try to chelate yet.
My holistic dentist wanted to give me chlorella before each removal treatment
but I declined, since I was worried that the chlorella would stir up the metals
without necessarily moving them out of my body. She suggested to me at my last
treatment that I should start an anti candida diet because candida overgrowth
and mercury and metals go hand in hand. I don't know what to do about this and
would be grateful for some advice because I had always thought that there was a
proper order to be followed in doing these things, of getting thefillings all
removed first before trying to do the anti candida and the chelation, because
while you still have amalgam fillings in your mouth they will continue to off
gas mercury into your system, with a knock on effect on the candida. So
basically what I am asking is should I follow the dentist's advice and start the
candida diet etc straight away or do I wait until all of the amalgam fillings
are removed?

Thanks

Steph

There is all sorts of advice offered by well-meaning dentists and
doctors that may or may not be a good idea for a particular person.
For example, lots of doctors recommend chlorella for mercury detox,
but I see a lot of people complaining about their health getting
worse from taking chlorella, so they eventually stop taking it.

As for candida, well, the candida *is* serving a beneficial function
in that it is protecting you from mercury. Killing off the candida
will cause it to release mercury into your system, which could make
you worse if you overdo it.

My feeling is that you should probably should reduce your intake
of foods that candida likes, and you probably also should use some
kind of anti-fungal, but don't overdo it, and back off if it makes
you feel worse.

Also, you should back off or discontinue the chlorella if it makes
you feel worse.
