I am new to this forum, but have been using this as one of my main sources of information. I have had similar experiences with symptoms and solutions to many of the people on this site. That said, I haven't seen anything mentioned about reflected light and how different types of light waves and particles affect people with this illness. I get burned by the infrared scanners at Walgreens, reflected light affects me more than the light source, and the brighter (intensity) the light, the worse I feel.
Last night I noticed that the flashing tail light on a bicycle did not affect me, but when it passed a car, the reflected tail light made me tingle and heart race a bit. I heard something about a "triple sun effect" dealing with reflections off of buildings, but I don't have enough information about it. Can anyone who has noticed that the direct sunlight, halogen lights, and bright LEDs affect them possibly shed some light (okay pun intended) on this issue? |
Hmm I don't know much about this but I do understand a bit what you mean about light sensitivity. Sometimes I can't really tolerate too much light, usually sunlight when i have headaches as a result of emf... but not to the extreme you are saying.
I also know that some people are highly sensitive to infrared radiation such as that from laser pointers. |

i know that lights can affect people profoundly
because i have a friend who go into convulsions when she sees blue light... also when she is exposed to the herb, sage. i am 'skittish' when i am around LEDs... and halogen lights. i'm going to become more aware of light now... might be a clue to some reactions. thanks, hippiedad. love, patricia

Thank you both for replying to my post. I also have noticed that halogens and other intense lights affect me such as the sunlight after 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I hope other people post on this thread as well because I have struggled with driving and going to my son's baseball practices and games. I'm going to buy a sun umbrella and get prescription sunglasses to see if they help me tolerate being outside in the afternoons and evenings. Anyone got any suggestions, please post. Thanks again to everyone sharing your experiences and solutions to this frustrating, misunderstood, and isolating condition. It's nice to hear this from people who can truly empathize.

I used to have that problem with the sun, back when my electrical hypersensitivity was worse. It does seem to be something that can be overcome -- for me, it seemed much easier to overcome a sensitivity to the sun than to overcome a sensitivity to certain electronics.
Not exactly sure WHAT was the solution though, as I was doing a bunch of things to improve my nutrition and detox chemicals and metals from my body. I think increasing vitamins/antioxidants via food choices or supplements is probably the most helpful. |

I used to have more sensitivity to light as well, but with less emf exposure light doesn't bother me as much unless I have an emf hangover and headache from going out somewhere lol. Maybe going to public places where lots of people use their phones might be affecting you as much as the light...
One thing that has helped me tons with figuring out what solutions may work or how much I can tolerate when it comes to emf sources has been my naturopathic Doctor. He could literally muscle test me to see how much time my body could tolerate using the computer each day. He could literally tell me that my body could tolerate 30 minutes twice a day. Maybe someone could help you figure out your tolerance so you can make choices to limit your exposure and not suffer as much. |
