laptops versus desktops

Jsverdlove
I'm curious if anyone has noticed a difference in reactions when using a laptop versus a desktop.

I was also wondering how I would go about - in real layman's terms - grounding my computer.

thank you

There's a big difference between the type of EMF a laptop puts out
versus what a desktop puts out. In my own case, I find a desktop
more tolerable, but I know that many people here find laptops more
tolerable. (note that a laptop may put out less EMF, but it is
also typically much closer to you than a desktop computer is)

On a recent trip, I was using my wife's laptop, and I compared
using it on batteries vs. using it plugged into the power
transformer (as suggested by Shivani). It did indeed seem
less problematic when run on just the batteries, but I wasn't
really using it enough to tell much difference, and I was
also using EMF protection devices with it.

I suppose I should qualify my last statement about the difference
between
laptops and desktops -- when referring to desktops, I was thinking of
a desktop with a CRT monitor. A desktop with an LCD monitor is probably
pretty similar to a laptop, although you may notice differences due
to how far away things are away from you, or whether you are running
the laptop on batteries.

Also, I suppose a laptop might have a lower quality power supply
than a desktop, which may cause more RF noise and ES symptoms.

that has an old monitor that is smaller and doesn't effect me as much
as my other computer which is larger. I'd like to get rid of at least
my other monitor along with a 46 inch projection TV that just puts out
too much EMF for me to use them. Can anyone recommend what kind of
computer monitor I should buy? LCD? I think I have seen at Less
EMF.com something there that is supposed to be good for several
hundred dollars. Any recommendations for shielding? I've been
looking into some stuff to cover the screens with on both the TV's and
the monitors. Anybody have any experiences with these also?

Have you tried using an LCD monitor before, and verified that
it's more tolerable than a CRT? I find that when using an LCD,
I become far more sensitive to florescent lighting than when
I use a CRT.

I've read in the past that LCD's with lead-shielded ballasts
are the best, but I have no idea who sells such things.

I've tried using grounded glass shields in front of both
a CRT and an LCD, but found them nowhere near as effective
as EMF protection devices.
