high Stetzer meter reading... in one outlet only?

Hi all,

In doing my experimentation with the Noise Harmonizer
and Stetzer meter, I've found that one outlet in my
living room has a much higher noise problem than all
the others. I cannot see any reason why this particular
outlet should be so special, yet it is reading ~800 on
the Stetzer meter right now, while all the rest of
the outlets are about 100!

My initial thought is to simply replace the outlet
with a new one, and see if that makes any difference.
Anyone have any other thoughts?

Answering my own question... :-)

It turns out that this one outlet is on an entirely
different circuit than the rest of the living room!
The previous owner was a stereo fanatic, and apparently
had a dedicated power outlet installed for his stereo
equipment. Ironic that this outlet is noisier than
all the rest.

So my favorite option now is to just leave this
circuit turned off at the fuse box, since the circuit
appears to only go to this one outlet. I have also
replaced the outlet so I can see if this makes any
difference to the Stetzer meter readings...

Note that I've been monitoring this outlet which
had the high Stetzer readings, and ever since
replacing the outlet with a new outlet, the readings
have been low -- about the same as the other
outlets in the room.

So that's an interesting way to lower the
meter readings -- not with a filter, but
simply be replacing the outlet! Note that
the outlet that was there before had the
appearance of being "cheap", while the outlet
I replaced it with was a "Leviton Pro", which
presumably has some advantage over a standard
outlet... (?)
