fluorescent lights again

It would be essential for me to find out what do fluorescent lights emitt (in the measurable spectrum). My instruments show just very weak (compared to radiation coming from mobile phone masts for example) emissions. Some people advocate that they do emitt significant radiation, but I was unable to find out the alleged figures. Any first hand experiances, or anybody has read about it?

it is really very simple.
The emitting longitudinal waves, you cannot measure with your *screwdriver*.
