[esens] Lab testing for mercury - common cause of ES

Glenn Coleman
Hello,

I just received results from urine testing done to determine the level of
mercury in my body. My doctor, and myself were shocked by the level of
mercury in my body. It was amazing relief for myself to see a quantitative
result, so it isn't just guess work wondering what was in my body, and
exactly what we need to do to get it out. I finally feel I have complete
answers to what has caused my ES and my hypothyroidism. They also
discovered elevated levels of lead.

We believe the major source of mercury in my case was amalgam fillings, flu
shots, and sea food.

I have been doing mercury detox for the past few months with oral DMSA, and
Natural Factors "Detoxitec", but my doctor told me it would take forever to
get the mercury out of my body with these methods, so am starting detox with
DMPS intravenous. He figures 6 months to a year doing DMPS every 3 weeks
should clean out most of the mercury.

It took a long time to find a doctor that could do testing for mercury, so I
thought I would share the name of the lab that performed this test, in case
anyone else is interested in knowing what levels of heavy metals you may
have in your body. Every doctor I talked to told me there was no method to
measure mercury levels in body.

The company is:

Doctor's Data Inc.
3755 Illinois Avenue
St. Charles IL
60174-2420

In my case the procedure was called a DMPS Challenge Test, done by my
doctor. My urine sample was then sent to Doctor's Data Inc. The cost was
about $300 including my doctors fees and lab tests, and extensive report.
The report included all heavy metals and essential elements (vitamin levels)
in my body.

This is also a big relief to be able to give something concrete from an MD
to my disability insurance company, since they don't accept the word of my
naturopath.

Dear Glen,

I would be very careful with chemical chelators. I have read numerous reports about adverse effects from things such as DMPS. See e.g. the Amalgam mail list and www.dmpsbackfire.com
I also believe, I had side effects from natural chemical chelators.

I myself - also being a heavy metal victim - believes much more in energymedicine - the biophysical way than the biochemical way.

Best wishes,

Nikolaj Holtermann

Hello,

I agree with Nikolaj that energymedicine is safer way to detox heavy metals.
I think anybody that is not in an emergency situation with high mercury
levels should have second thoughts about DMPS, or make absolutely sure your
bodies liver, kidney, and digestion is strong before proceeding.

I spent the last day doing further research into DMPS, and here are my
conclusions as it relates to my situation:

* It is a very toxic substance 3 times more toxic than DMSA, and doesn't
clean up brain of toxic metals (like DMSA does).
* If one doesn't prepare their liver, kidneys, and digestion system (with
naturopathic or nutritional cleanse first) any chemical detox can create
serious problems. The liver & kidney's can't process the heavy metals
properly so it becomes a toxic mess. Reading testimonials of 100's of
failed DMPS patients, it became obvious many did not prepare enough before
DMPS.
* One should make sure they are not allergic to *sulfpha" before doing DMPS.
Perhaps do small sample test first. This is a leading cause of problems
with DMPS.
* Use slow drip IV method, where DMPS is gradually introduced to body. Some
problems occur with the fast injection method.

A nurse at a local clinic told me she has been doing DMPS everyday for 5
years, and had only one case where they were allergic to sulpha, and when
administered had trouble breathing. They use only the slow drip IV method
at this clinic.

Given the high risk if I wasn't in an urgent situation needing to lower my
mercury levels quickly, I would not do this procedure.

I intend to proceed with 6 DMPS treatments to get my mercury lower
(suggested by doctor), then followup with sauna, energy-medicine (shiatsu,
pranic healing, reiki), and nutritional detox.

Glenn

Yes, but even energy medicine can have it's problems, as I discovered
when I tried to perform Reiki on myself for 40 minutes per day. That
led to me getting terribly sick... first it was like I had the flu
with a high fever, then it turned into the symptoms of a bladder
infection. So you can do too much of *anything*, including herbs,
including chemical chelators, and including energy medicine.

But I believe DMPS is definitely just one of many possible ways
to chelate mercury, and if someone doesn't want to take the risks,
they can certainly do lots of other things instead...
