[esens] Eating high levels of potassium - need balance

Glenn Coleman
Hello,

I just had an interesting discussion with my naturopath, Dr. Matsen, about
increasing my potassium intake to help with ES.

He mentioned that increases in potassium signal our body that it is sunny
weather outside, no matter where we are when we eat potassium rich foods
(since potassium rich foods grow in sunny weather). When we increase
potassium, our body releases less vitamin-D since it thinks it is sunny
outside, and assumes we don't need the vitamin-D.

To balance high potassium diet, he suggests adding sea salt to potassium
rich foods, when eating in non-sunny weather, so we still get vitamin-D from
our liver. Otherwise we can end up with winter blues from lack of
vitamin-D.

His ideal recommendation is eating foods that are in season in your area, to
keep vitamin-D in proper balance.

Dr. Matsen's book "Eating Alive II" goes into detail on this, and precisely
how mercury affects our body.

Glenn

Hi Glenn,

An interesting aspect here is that for the body to be able to absorb potassium, there needs to be enough uric acid in the blood.
With the Reams Biological Theory of Ionization tests we also test nitrate nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen in the urine. When these levels are low in the long run, potassium deficiency can be assumed.
To increase these two figures (nitrate and ammonia nitrogen) it's important to eat proteins which are well digested and absorbed. Raw egg yolks are especially well absorbed. If that's not sufficient, we often use HCl (hydrochloric acid) with pepsin (digestive enzyme) supplements.

What I'm trying to say is that increasing potassium intake isn't neccessarily going to increase potassium levels *in the blood*. It's important to also eat the enough of the right proteins and you also need strong enough stomach acid and digestive enzymes. Otherwise the uric acid levels are too low and no potassium absorption will take place.
I experience much less sensitivity to electrosmog when eating a raw diet which includes raw egg yolks and raw fish/meat. Perhaps one advantagous factor of a raw diet is that it increases uric acid levels and hence increases potassium absorption.

Take care,
