emegency dental treatment... amalgams.

betty A
Hi guys , just having a bit of a freak out , broke a tooth yesterday ( day before going overseas) and had to see a dentist in an emergency. It occuredto me as I was prostate in his dentist chair and breathing a chernobyl sized cloud of amalgam dust , that I probably wasnt doing myself a whole lot of good ( it was a desperate appointment to the only dentist I could get into before flying tonight). Any way this morning feeling a bit rough which could be the effects of the local anaesthetic, or the bit of wine I had to dull the pain, but I just want to know if any one has noticed any side effects, immediate or otherwise, after having had their amalgams drilled/removed , and if there is anything I can do to minimise any potential side effects. In a perfect world I would have seen a holistic dentist and have prepared with plenty of time to prepare , but as you all know life isnt perfect.

all opinions/feedback welcomed.

Yeah, I was flat on my back for several days after having my amalgams
removed, and that was WITH a holistic dentist, using an alternate air
supply, water-cooled drill, quick removal of amalgams in "chunks",
rubber dam, etc. Although I speculated that the novocaine might have
been a contributing factor on top of any mercury exposure. I'd
experiment with increasing antioxidant intake (especially if you can
find some hydrogen-based ones, like "Hydrogen Boost"), or taking lots of
activated charcoal to hopefully bind and eliminate anything that's still
in your intestines. And of course, there are a long list of mercury
chelators (DMPS, DMSA, NDF, NCD, OSR, ALA, etc.), but I'd recommend
being very careful with these, as some of these may just mobilize even
more mercury rather than deal with what's already been mobilized.

I had a tooth extracted a few years ago, containing a huge mercury filling.Post extraction, I became very ill and bedridden for over six months. The anesthetic didn't work, despite being injected with the maximum dosage ofCitanest. The latter increased neurological and cardiac symptoms.

Marc gave good advice about anti-oxidants, and charcoal.

Do you think your reation was due to the anaesthetic or the amalgam in the tooth?

Sounds nasty either way

rough , rough , rough , just arrived in Athens , though god knows how. I think this must be a reaction to local anaesthetic. Taking lots of vit C and drinking water , wouldnt even know how to ask for charcoal in Greek. Thankfully the hotel has no Wifi, but the view of the accropolis from the roof terrace is nicely framed by the three  cell fone telecom towers about 1/2mile away in three directions . Wish me luck...

Let us know how you get on Ada - hope things are ok - maybe there might be someone who could help with the translation of charcoal into greek to help you find a shop for that. Do you think you have had a reaction to the adrenaline in the local anaesthetic??

Stay as well as you can
