electric toothbrushes

Karl
Both the chargers and motors give off EMI, so I avoid them. That said, I just found one manufacturer that uses a piezoelectric system rather than a permanent magnet motor:

Does anyone else have trouble with the Sonicare/others? And has anyone tried this one?

The charger would probably still be a problem, but I can run it while I'm away.

The toothbrush uses ultrasound to clean?  That's enough to keep me away!

You can hear that, too? Drives me nuts, but it's almost impossible to get away from.

I have a battery-powered Oral-B that gives me no problems.   Runs off of AA batteries.

I use a Sonicare. For the 2 minutes in use to save my gums it's worth it to me

Thanks, Marc.

Steve: Yeah, I can see that, especially after seeing what some of my older friends went through to treat gum recession.

I forgot to mention.
The toothbrush itself doesn't bother me much but the charging base definitely does.
I leave it unplugged until I have to re-charge the brush and I do it when I'm out of the apartment.

FWIW, this guy says that the old Sonicare brush ran at 262 Hz, and the charger at 68.34 kHz:
