buying TV/ & DVD recorder

Paresh
hi - I know this has been covered before...maybe someone could refer me to a past post.

I'm getting ready to buy a TV & some kind of recording system, just to record & watch a movie occasionally. Apart from the distance from the TV, are there any other outstanding things I should know? or brands that are better or worse? Blu-Ray?? Thanks!!
blessings,
Paresh

The 26" insignia had the lowest magnetic field of all the TVs
at Best Buy. It's my brother's TV - I can't go near the damn
things.

For an occasional movie I use a portable DVD player running on
its battery. That's tolerable.

I last watched a portable DVD player with my nephew and had a reaction to it - but come to think of it I think it was on the charger at the time - I must try it on the battery and see if that makes a difference

I still get a mild reaction, though it's generally
tolerable. Occasionally, on those bad days, it does
hurt.
