analog vs.digital

It sounds funny to refer to the original type of cell phones as "old
fashioned." But, yes, those were analog. The new ones are digital. The
signal is pulsed, which does much more damage.
This is another area in which the only approach that makes sense to me
is avoidance. We are not going to know for years whether this gizmo or that
gizmo can actually protect you from cell phone radiation.
Alasdair Philips of Powerwatch in UK thinks there will be massive
lawsuits over this. (Lloyds of London will not insure cell phone companies, BTW.)
I mentioned this to a guy who is selling a little tab that is supposed to
make your phone safe. His response? "Well, it would be hard to prove the
phone was what caused that particular cancer." I found that interesting. He
didn't say that he was positive his product was doing what he says it does,
just that he thought he'd be hard to sue so he was OK with selling it for that
reason.

Shivani

Re: analog vs.digital

Those "little tabs" for cellphone make my blood boil.
The ones I have seen (and belive me, we have watched this product for many
years) are supported by one of two types of bogus research:

1] the package has a thermal image of a face after using a cellphone,
showing that it is quite warm; and a thermal image of a face after using a
celphone with the device... and it seems noticably cooler. But what about
the before pictures??? Even though I have requested before pictures well
over a dozen times from various sources, they never materialize.

2] a 6 x 6 inch piece of the shielding material used to make the "little
tabs" is tested in a laboratory set up and shown to be effective at
shielding microwaves. Therefore, the (flase) conclusion is that a very
small piece of this material stuck to your phone will deliver the same
shielding performance. That is like believing that since light will not
penetrate a brick wall, you will be in total shade if you hold a brick
over your head.

I believe the lawsuits regarding these products have previously been
discussed in this group.
