You are lucky that this grounding worked. In many places, this
technique would only lhave caused you more misery, because it would have created yet
more pathways for high-frequency ground currents.
I mention this so that others will not presume that the same technique
will have a happy ending for them.
It is now rare to find ground at zero potential. You cannot simply
assume that it is.
