In my experience, the location within the plane doesn't
matter so much from an ES standpoint (although they say
the air is better near the front). My big problem was
the overhead fluorescents during boarding / departing,
and anyone sitting next to you with a laptop or DVD
player. And of course, you don't want to be near
any in-flight movie TV display or projector.
