X-Rays of products shipped from overseas?

sctdh
Does anyone know if health care products are x-rayed as part of
security if shipped from overseas? I am considering buying Shilajit
from India.

Depends on what is in them.
All spices imported into the U.S.A. are required by law to be
irradiated. IIRC this is gamma radiation.

I suspect that this is worse than microwave, but have no evidence.
There are probably others that are irradiated with various
frequencies.

Does anyone have a sense of how bad this is. Does anyone take these kinds of products anyway?

Re: X-Rays of products shipped from overseas?

Ian Kemp
The biggest effects on ES people are from direct personal exposure to EM
waves. Products which have been irradiated in the past will have zero or
tiny radiation effects - it does not get stored inside the substance, but
passes straight through, killing bacteria etc on the way.

The most significant concern about food irradiation in the past has been
whether it might be misused on meat etc which is "past its best", killing
any bacteria present but leaving behind any harmful residues. This would
affect anyone, and is a chemical rather than EM problem - although as
electrosensitives often have weakened immune systems they could be more
susceptible. However, this is a rather different situation to spices and
medicinal items shipped direct from overseas.

I'd suggest therefore that this is a very small concern compared to the many
major ones faced by ES people in everyday life.
