Wow! Best to keep driving that old clunker!

JDark
I came across this article in an IT security email.  I know that most new cars are just unacceptable, but if you read the first bullet point, it looks like they all are.

I have a 93 exotic sports car.  I can't really drive it anymore except on really good days-too hard to get in and out of and press pedals, but I am now glad I did not opt for a new one and chose to restore this oldie.

I may very well want a motorhome and that will have to be older as well.

First it is not safe to have those wireless devices in cars, any more than it is safe to have a drunk behind the wheel.  The end result is the same.

Second it destroys health to be around it.  I remember the TIAs I would get in the 80s, every time I drove anywhere, before the wireless age. ?? There was a cellphone by the drivers seat in that car. I always had to be taken home by a third party.

So check this spooky link and comment.  It just bugs the hell out of me:

PS I'm not at all concerned about being hacked. If someone wants to kill me, their are easier ways.LOL

Yes, I recently went on a business trip to Europe... the rental car was not a pleasant
thing to be in.  I even had to ask someone how to start it, since I wasn't familiar with
wireless proximity fobs and start buttons (and the need to hold down the brake pedal
when pushing the start button!)

Wow that sounds like quite a nightmare Marc between the flight, hotel etc..none of which I can even attempt.

That is really awful.  I think that may be a good focus to require the rental agencies have cars available for those with EHS. I am sure europe has the equallivant of ADA or more so. I checked a year ago with some companies-not too helpful.

It's not true that we can go to a place like rent a wreck for a car, as they have so few locations. I did find one company that claimed they had no GPS in their basic rentals and no wireless. The name started w/ and E. Maybe it was Enterprise, but not sure.

After reading this article I wonder. Now days people think nothing of lying about it. I had a local store tell me on more than one occassion that they had my grocery items in organic-this after I stressed 10 times over that I need organic. Only after paying a helper to go in there to get the items, I found it was all a rouse. I then had to choose between throwing out a fortune of parishble ingredients or cleaning out my bank account on expedited fed ex bills.  I did the latter and have pulled my business from that store except for milk and eggs [organic valley]. When these business lie they do not care about the effects that are generated.
They do not care if the wireless in the car causes a stroke, heat attack or accident, so they are more likely to just go with the lie, as it's too hard to prove in court, so there will not be any backlash.

I would think this could be testing w/ and RF meter before signing the rental agreement.  If the Accoustimeter does not light then it's safe?  Of course if there is a tower or wifi near, the meter would light even in a 57 chevy
