Re: Wi-FI Explained

Thank you!  It's excellent, and simple enough to understand.  I've
sent to my adult kids, b/c each has a child exhibiting reactions to
wireless, but my kids won't "hear" it from me.  Maybe the video will
encourage them to at least think about it.

My new neighbors next door just got wifi installed.  I "knew" it
before I confirmed it, b/c my ES increased substantially when I went
into rooms on the side of my house that is right next to theirs.   Not
good.

that's precisely why I hate the ground my neighbors walk on ! I presented
them with the facts re my ES many years ago, it seems they cherrypicked the
info  that was best suited to them - took their dect and put it out of their
lounge  and into their glass conservatory and moved the wifi router to a
similar  location, now the whole side of my house is irradiated by their cheap
electronic  weapons of mass destruction cos the glass offers no resistance
to the waves,  parts of my garden are no longer enjoyable and so on... wow I
feel angry just  writing this !!

Dont get me wrong I am trying to forgive them but when their cigarette
smoke wafts into my house from time to time I cant help draw the parallels
about  passive smoking/unwanted pollution and their treasured wireless devices.
I  need therapy on this wheres woody allen...

That is a great little video.  It helped me realize something I hadn't
thought of before.  The video explains that routers continually
broadcast a "beacon signal."  This is in most if not all cases the most
damaging part of a router's output, because it is on continuously,
whether any devices are using the Wi-Fi or not. The "beacon signal"  is
always on at full power.  The good news is that the beacon signal is
only a convenience, and is not absolutely necessary, and there is a
router setting for turning that beacon signal off.  The setting usually
appears under wireless settings as "Broadcast SSID," and there is a
checkbox to disable it.  This will increase the security of the router,
but any devices that connect to the Wi-Fi will need to be reconfigured
to recognize the router.  It also makes it slightly more complicated to
configure devices to work with the router.  This can be very useful to
minimize the danger in cases where somebody feels they must have Wi-Fi.
