Howdy! In the end I had to return to my appartment as my former home was too contaminated with dust and exhaust gas from a nearby road which it just happens to be frequent with high transit of vehicles.
Anyway, the reason of this thread is that the phone company had to reinstall the phone on my home. But it is a voip, needless to say that this requires the plain old phone to be plugged to the cablemodem in order to work. However, because I suffer from EHS I had to turn it off most of the time unless I require to use internet, but this makes the phone dependent from the cablemodem.
I've attempted to find different adapters for this purpose but I cannot find any. Does it exist any alternative which is friendly or has the least value of V/m^2 in terms of exposure when the device is turned on?.
I'm not very savvy in technology thus it would be very helpful if someone could help me here. The solution which I'm intending to use is some sort of replacement which could be the most closest to a plug in the wall phone as I had it before with my older copper wire phone system, but it is not available anymore by my phone company. All and all, can someone help me or recommend some solution which could work for me?.
So the issue is that you are reacting to the cable modem, so you keep it turned off as much as possible, making the VOIP phone useless?
I guess I would try experimenting with alternative cable modems. Also maybe alternative internet providers, since it sounds like the only way you can get phone is via the internet. Do you have alternative internet providers, like the cable TV company?
I did find personally that there is a difference in symptoms due to both your cable provider and also the specific cable modem you are using.
Otherwise, if you need to keep all that the same, then perhaps your only options are shielding and distance. Or EMF protection devices if any of those work for you.
Yes that's right. The cablemodem is an issue. I was trying to find a solution to use a voip without having to use the cablemodem supplied by my phone company. Unfortunately the other options from other companies would be about the same so I don't think it would adjust to my needs.
There are different kinds of cablemodems out there. I haven't tried all. Needless to say there isn't exactly information on how strong is the field around them. Unless you have a EMF meter along with you to make the measure.
Yes I could try shielding and so on. But I was intending to find an option which would require not to. I wonder, how do exist solutions like this router? and like the JRS Eco 2 but not a Voip for EHS sufferers?.
I've found Obihai 200 adapter but this comes with the handicap of having a built in wifi which it would be the same as my original cablemodem. Therefore at this point I'm just without phone.
Well, there are certainly cable modems that don't have any wi-fi, if that's the issue.
But even without wi-fi, there are people who react to cable modems that just have a single ethernet output. And there's not much you can do about that, other than try a different cable modem, or shield it, or put it far away from where you spend your time.
