RE: Utilities Refuse To Remove Advanced Meter

Fog Top
I've gone through the same thing with the utilities being total bullies when it comes to removing the meters.  I've submitted letters from my doctor to the utility and the Public Utilities Commission.  Both deny that these meters cause harm and refuse to give me back analog meters as my doctor and I requested.

You should make a public record of complaint.  If you've already contacted the utility then you need to make a formal complaint to the Public Utilities Commission if this is a public and not government owned utiltiy.  If it's a city owned utility go to your local city council.  If enough people do this a record will in place for your chance to join a class action lawsuit and also to prove to city, state, national government representatives that many people are suffering harm from these EMF smart devices.  Smart metering is accomplished in one of two ways by utilities - they either pulse the RF into the air or they pulse it onto the utility wiring (power line communication).  Both ways cause my ES symptoms to skyrocket.

I had to move twice in two years to get to a place where my husband can still make the commute to work and I could survive.  We have only one smart meter for power but no more gas or water radiating smart meters.  Husband's retirement is around the corner and we plan to buy land far away from the smart grid and go solar.  Right now I live with half the house circuits turned off at the breaker panel.  We've consulted with an ES electrical engineer who showed us how to check our house for wiring errors - one of the greatest and most common magnetic field creators in your house which will greatly affect you if you are ES.  We found so many affected circuits which used to produce a 6 milligauss magnetic field when lights were turned on.  Most electricians in the US will tie more than one circuit to the same neutral (white wire).  This is an absolute no-no and creates an alternate path for electricity thus creating the high EMF.

You can buy a product call Reflectix from Home Depot or Lowers which would need to be attached to the wall behind the gas meter, either inside or outside your house.  Perhaps about a 4'x4' piece will help.  You can also put aluminum foil over the meter.  Do you have a high frequency meter that can show you what's happening?

Google for anti-smart meter groups in your state and connect up with others who are in this battle.  I wish you the best in your struggle with this new power regime taking over our country.

Subject: [ES] Utilities Refuse To Remove Advanced Meter

April 26, 2014, a service person from my gas company replaced the previous "meter" with the one in the picture. After the installation of the new meter my symptoms were off the charts. I think I slept maybe two hours. The next day I went out to see what the meter looked like, took pictures. It looks like some type of an Advanced Meter to me. I was talking to my son later and he suggested calling the gas company, which I did.  Long story short -- they will not replace the meter.

Now what can I do?

Kay

Kay, why do you say that looks like an advanced meter to you?  From the photo,
it looks to me to be old analog technology, although from the photo it's hard to tell.

Thank you so much for all the good information! I have seen having EMF symptoms since around August 2007. There was a period of time, until 2010, that I had very little or at least not debilitating symptoms. October 2010, the symptoms began to escalate. Today, it's very bad. I didn't learn until April of this year that other people suffered from EMF and that was what I was dealing with all along. I just thought at times before I leaned what it was that there was something "wrong" with me. I didn't tell anyone what I was experiencing until this year. I told one of my sons and I'm not sure he thought it was real.

Again, thank you, Fog Top, for the very helpful information!
Peacefulness,
Kay

Marc,
Two reasons I think it's a Advanced Meter because of the "red buttons" since I've seen other pictures of Advanced Meters. Link: http://www.socalgas.com/innovation/advanced-meter/. The other reason is the night after it was installed (and at that time I didn't know what the meter was that was installed) I had symptoms where there was no let up and the rest of the day and all night long. Mostly I was going by how I felt after the gas service person had been at my residence. I could be wrong about the meter but I know for a certainty that I was miserable that evening and into the night.
Peacefulness,
Kay

Ah, well your meter doesn't really look like those pictured, but I'd say that yes,
if your utility company is upgrading meters, then it may well be a smart meter.
I see on that web page an "opt out" phone number, have you tried that?

Here's a picture of the type of wireless gas smart meter used with a "wired" power line communications meter (the 'wired' meter has a transceiver so that it puts RF into the wiring and into the air):

a digital meter disguised as a analoge ? you need to find out

If you don't have a emf measure meter. do as i do.. take your portable radio. put on AM and find a place between 700 and 900 that dont have to much noise . but do not put on a channel.
scan the meter, for at least a couple of minutes.

can you take more closeup photos and from the sides? this is interesting.

Yes, the add-on they put onto our gas meter is much more modern looking.  I guess
they think people won't complain as much if the meter still looks like it was made in
the 1950s.  :-)

Hank,

I will take more pictures. I don't have an EMF meter. I will try the radio suggestion soon.

Here's an interesting side note to the "meter thing"! I have a pix I found online that shows a meter just like mine and they (whoever they are) are calling it a Smart/Advanced Meter. Then yesterday I was searching again for Smart/Advanced Meters and came across another pix of a "gas meter" very much the same as mine but they were calling it an Electric Meter. It was definitely a "gas meter".  So, I'm thinkin', "What to believe?"

Anyway, as I said I'll get more pix and the radio!

Thanks to all for your help!
Peacefulness,
Kay

Hawk,

I tried uploading additional photos but guess I don't know how to do that or it can't be done!

That may be an ITRON meter, which is what I had.

It had analog dials, but if you look at the label on the top, it'll show the model and may show that it's approved for UNLICENSED use by the FCC.

These are really nasty because they do not use an isolation coupler: they broadcast microwave pulses into your gas lines, which are often coupled to your plumbing pipes just by coincidence(and at the water heater and furnace where the gas line connects to the appliance.

I ended up removing the gas meter myself, then calling the gas company to come pick it up.

They weren't happy about that and threatened to "fine" me for not having a plumber's license or something like that.

I told them they should do whatever they needed to do, and we could meat it out in court.

They didn't "fine" me, but I have no hot water, and can't use my stove of furnace now.

Thankfully I don't have an electric smart meter yet: those also ground to the plumbing, at least in Oklahoma as electrical code requires your electric service to ground to the sewer line.

Which is a really bad idea since they also ground the neutral here.

But in any case, your gas meter may look like an old analog meter, have analog dials and still be a smart meter.

Look at the label, in the fine print.
