Hi all,
In case anyone has been looking for a tolerable MP3 player, I just found one -- the SanDisk Sansa Clip+. I typically use MP3 players in my car, and even though they are hardwired into the car stereo (via the headphone output of the player), and even though the player is away from me on the passenger seat, I have still encountered players that are bothersome while they are playing. However, I can't say that I notice anything at all from the Sansa Clip+. At least when used this way in my car. I should also note that I am not using the firmware that came with the player, but immediately replaced it with open-source replacement firmware called "Rockbox". I don't know if that is a factor or not (probably not). This is also the first thing I've used that has an OLED screen. I'll take this as a good sign that OLED might be better than LCD... :-) Marc |
Marc, have you (or anyone) had problems with players with no screen
(like the ipod shuffle)? I used the shuffle a little bit but did not enough to recommend it. I've never tried a player without a screen. I've thought about it, but now there's no point, since the Sansa Clip+ with it's tiny OLED screen doesn't provoke any reaction in me. I'm also not convinced that it's the screen that I'm primarily reacting to, since I've had a bad reaction to a Sony IC Recorder (in playback mode) that had an old-fashioned B&W screen. Marc |
