Re: The benefit of being Earthed

Emil at Less EMF Inc
Hi Phyllicia,

Thank you for this information. I completely believe that your symptoms are improved. But how do you know that your
grounding technique is working? I mean, do you have a meter to measure the quality of your grounding or are you
just saying that your method improves your symptoms?

Emil

I have a meter.
Best Regards,

ha ha ha ha ! No kidding, that was really funny to me, a thermometer!
: /)
Thanks for the laugh.
I haven't had one in a couple of days.

Hi Charles,
Ouch! That is about as tacky as anyone has gotten on this site. It doesn't even
deserve a serious response.

Charles may have been a bit strong, but I (and I'm sure others here)
share his inquiry...

It appears you are claiming that simply clipping the alligator clip
to the nonconductive (cotton/poly) bedding is enough to ground your
body in such a way that it clearly shows much lower AC potentials
between your body and some known grounding point, as measured using
an AC voltmeter with high input impedance (10Megohm) such as was
discussed earlier on this list.

If this is the case, and your bedding is truly cotton/poly or other
non-conductive material, then your experimental results are not
explainable by the laws of physics as I understand them. I do have a
strong background in Quantum Physics, by the way, which in no way
would explain how the meter would read differently.

If indeed these are the measured results, then I would suggest that
either there is some variable you are not accounting for, or the
meter is faulty, or perhaps you are using carbon fiber bedding. I
don't know. We don't really know the details because you haven't
mentioned where the meter is connected, or what you are changing to
go from "grounded" to "ungrounded".

If you really can reproduce this behavior over and over I'd ask
someone with an electrical/physics background to check it out - you
may make the next issue of Scientific American with some new
discovery :).

Perhaps you meant a different kind of meter, or a different test, in
which case it would be interesting to hear what you did.

In general the idea I get from the sleeping-earthed site is that it
is trying to provide a method whereby electrical charges can migrate
to your body as you sleep. This may or may not show up as a
reduction on the AC voltmeter, because the sleeping earthed product
includes a 1Megohm resistor in series with the grounding system for
electrical shock safety reasons. The goal was not to bring the body
down to zero AC potential with reference to ground (which is not
possible unless you are sleeping ON THE GROUND), but to provide a
flow of electrons between the ground and your body.

You have stated a lot in the past.
But most of your statements were based on personal feelings and experiences,
and beliefs.
That is all right.

But now you made a statement about using a meter to confirm your findings,
and now my (and others) question arises.
I do know a bit about meters and using them.

And measuring this potential difference is a bit sticky.
Many sellers of bed materials are using this method inappropriate and
wrongly, and fooling their customers.
There are some documents about this, but they are all in german.
