Human Beings have 5 Senses: Vision, Hearing, Smell, Taste & Touch.
After W.F.Ganong, Review of Medical Physiology 7th ed. 1975 Lange Medical Publications here are another 17 - and their stimuli: Rotational Acceleration - Gravity Linear Acceleration - Gravity Pressure - Pressure Warmth - Heat energy Cold - Low temperature Muscle Stretch - Muscle elongation forces Tendon Stretch - Forces exerted on tendons by muscles Joint Position - Position on body (e.g. limbs) in space Blood Pressure in Arteries - Pressure of cirulating blood Blood Pressure in Veins near the Heart - Pressure of circulating blood Lung Volume - The degree to which the lung is expanded Blood Temperature in the Head - Heat energy Oxygen Concentration - Concentration of dissolved oxygen in the blood Acidity of Cerebral Fluid - Concentration of hydrogen ions Osmotic Pressure of Body Fluids - The concentration of large molecules, especially proteins, in the blood Blood Sugar Concentration - The difference in the concentration of glucose in arteries as compared to veins Pain - A variety if stimuli The association and mapping of stimuli with responses is what we do as human beings. Its perfectly normal whether we recognise it or not. The psychiatrists might even say its endemic. It's so normal to mix and melde 'impressions' in unseen ways that it is even reflected in our language; lemon tastes'sharp', music sounds 'smooth'. Synaesthesia is an example of when these associations - these stimulus/response associations/mappings happen in unexpected ways. 'Programmable sensing' is a feature that extends to other creatures, as we know from Pavlov's dogs who were trained to expect food at the ringing of abell and salivated accordingly. from an early age we start to feel something, we're not sure what, until a warm sensation spreads from our groin. In time and with the imperative of social acceptance, we don't know quite how we do it but we learn to control our bladder. We 'learn' and sensations are then automatically mapped, in this case, to automatic muscular control. I make no appology for having learnt to associate some 'sensations' with exposure to various types of electromagnetic radiation. It has been an imperative born of the need to safeguard myself from daily microwave attack. Where the sensors are in my body I do not know but they exist nonetheless. If Iand other EHS sufferers can either voluntarily or involantarily programme such associations, I have no doubt it is an inherrent skill that has servedhumanity well during its evolution. That my body has expended extraordinary involuntary effort in responding to this imperative suggests that exposure to man-made electromagnetic radiation is not good for it and possibly theother people/creatures with whom the ecosystem is shared. In time, when the science is allowed to catch up, I don't doubt the truth will be known. In the meantime the multi-billion dollar 'Total Earth Irradiation Experiment' continues without control. So the next time someone reveals their ignorance of the body they inhabit by claiming Human Beings only have 5 senses, you might ask them if they've ever lost their centre of gravity or perhaps if they've wet themselves recently... --- |
