The Gupta Program and DNRS - A Comparison

Catherine
The Gupta Program is an on-line programme which is similar to DNRS.  (Dynamic Neural Retraining System).

        Similarities

• They both aim to calm the nervous system and heal an over-active limbic system.
• At their core is a process for interrupting negative thoughts and feelings and replacing them with
positive visions of health and happiness.
• They both claim to be effective for treating a variety of conditions including chronic fatigue syndrome
         and ES.
• Both programmes are recommended by Dr Neil Nathan in his recent book “The Sensitive Patient’s
        Guide to Healing.”
• Both programmes have research which demonstrates their effectiveness in treating a variety of
conditions, but neither has research on ES.  I don’t think this is because they’re not effective for ES, I
think it’s more likely to be that there are relatively few people using the programmes for ES, making
it difficult to produce statistically significant results.

       Differences

• DNRS is more specifically targeted at people with sensitivities, such as food intolerance, chemical
sensitivities and ES.  It includes “Incremental Training” – a process of gradually increasing your
exposure to an allergen so that your immune system becomes accustomed to it.
• DNRS places a lot of emphasis on “elevating your mood” by, for example, singing, dancing, laughing
        and doing things you enjoy.
• The Gupta Program puts a lot of emphasis on activities which calm the nervous system such as
meditation, yoga, diaphragmatic breathing, alternate nostril breathing and doing things slowly and
        mindfully.

        Conclusion

If I had to choose between the two programmes, as a treatment for ES, I’d choose DNRS because I think Incremental Training is probably an important part of the process.  However, I think the Gupta Program contains some useful information, particularly on activities for calming the nervous system.  So, I think that combining aspects of both programmes might be an effective approach.
I notice that kaushik07 did this - combining DNRS with yoga, meditation and breathing exercises, as part of his recovery process.  (see his post:  Success with EHS – I finally achieved 100% recovery)
