Talk to people; they just might listen.

R. Ticle
Hey all,

Haven't been around here for ages.  Just wanted to pop in and say that I've talked to a few more people about EMFs.  There was a couple with kids who own the house my partner is currently renting the upper floor of.  I noticed there was more RF than the time before that I was there.

I talked to them about it and yes, they'd moved their office up one floor and the DECT phone and WiFi router was signaling upstairs through the floor.  I talked to them and took some measurements.  They said that they had been reading and were somewhat concerned, but I guess hearing a person (me) who sounded like they knew what they were talking about, and who had some equipment (helpful) did it for them.  They're going to hard wire their house.

Also, my craniosacral therapist said he feels a "palpable difference" with his WiFi router off; he may not feel "bad" with it on, but simply better without it.  He's going to run Ethernet cable to his office space instead of wireless.

Okay - so these were people already a bit in tune to the concept that maybe wireless isn't such a great idea; but what I'm saying is that some people (even if you don't have a briefcase of RF and magnetic/electric field meters and an AM radio) will listen to you.

Don't sound alarmist, even if things feel alarming.  Get some basic facts under your belt; speak confidently without pushing them in a direction.  Mention the industry bias toward negative results.  Etc., etc.

Did I ever mention that a farm I used to work on has now (in addition to previously getting rid of their cordless phones) gotten a wired internet hub instead of WiFi AND, because of me talking to them over a while, turned down an offer to have a cellphone tower on their land - even though it would have netted them an extra thousand dollars a month from a telcom company?

Yes, they passed on an extra $12, 000/year because I talked to them and they decided that not microwaving their land and the surrounding area was more valuable.

Just wanted to pass this on and hope it inspires some of you to keep strong, keep learning and keep teaching.  You're all doing a great job.  I haven't felt wonderful myself lately, but I have not given up.  All the best to everyone here.  Stay well!

Love and all that good stuff,

R.

Hi,

I agree so strongly. We need to continue to talk with people and get the word out. I have had many people respond to what I have told them about all this that we discuss here.

Also, it is so much easier now than it was even 5 or so years ago. Back then most people around here thought I was crazy when I talked about electrical sensitivity. Now about half of the people I speak with about this are actually very receptive and have heard at least something about it, especially regarding cell phone use. Several people have even mentioned they feel sick in front of T.V.'s or computers.

Cheryl

Thanks R. you do get discouraged sometimes but it is important to "spread awareness" as painful as it might be for us to do so. Loni

Hi, R!

I also have had good success discussing ES with people.  A plumber, various friends/ family, and quite a few electricians, among others now turn their cell phones off after getting or making calls (to break the transmission) and check frequencies of their electronics with AM radios; some have changed cell and wireless phone models to ones which transmit less emfs when they are turned on but not in use.  Some people now only make calls on cell phones in emergencies and keep them off the remaining times.  Some now keep their electronics at home unplugged except when in use (often because I told them some electronics use electricity even when not in use when plugged in).  Some people I have spoken with are now avoiding Energy Star appliances.  I usually don't discuss my personal ES history with people without reason (they are providing me a service and need to know, or they are closest friends or family), but I don't have to make it personal to make
 it a topic of conversation.

We can bring up scientific studies in conversation, such as the recent bee colony or frog studies, for instance, or the hazards of airport scans, or the fact that Sweden bans compact fluorescent light bulbs.  I discussed it with my hand therapist last year when she mentioned needing to get rid of a bee's nest on her porch.  I told her bees don't like cell phone emfs.  Then I mentioned that if emfs from phones bother bees, just think what they might do to little kids (she has 3 small children).  And then I brought up the research from UPMC (Univ of Pittsburgh) on cell phone use causing brain tumors.  You don't have to get personal when you discuss it.  And once in awhile people I have just mentioned it to in an impersonal way, later come back to me and tell me they have been reading more about it in various publications.  They notice more on the subject now as a result of my initially pointing it out.  When they re-mention it to me, I can then
tell them more about avoiding emfs in their personal lives.

Electricians and people who work with alot of electronics, in particular, have wanted to pick my brain about it and usually believe right away what I tell them.  The head electrical engineer at our electric utility was one of these.  The support techs for Dell were also.

Its great to hear from you, R-ticle!  Sorry to hear you are not doing well.  Also, thanks for bringing this subject up; I think it is important for us to put bugs in peoples' ears.

Bless you in your health,
Diane
